For installing windows I have downloaded the 64-bit Windows 8 installation(.iso) from dreamspark. I have used Boot Camp-assistant for making the windows Partition. Boot Camp Assistant will automatically remove Windows and expand the macOS partition for you, reclaiming all of that space. You’ll see the Restore Disk to a Single Volume option.
BOOTCAMP MOUNT MAC PARTITION WINDOWS 7 FREE
My Procedure for installing a Windows BootCamp If you want to remove Windows from your Mac and free up space, reboot into macOS and open the Boot Camp Assistant again. The laptop in general runs dangerously hot when booted into windows 7, I have even burnt my thigh as a result. I suspect it's the culprit for my iMac not recognizing an external HDD attached to a USB at the back of it. Repeating this over a number of times leads eventually to Windows requiring a chkdsk at bootup - something takes almost 3 hours to complete on my 50gb BOOTCAMP partition. Can I later Mount it and work as usual or it'll be deleted. Before trying to start a Bootcamp Virtual Machine, open access to the Bootcamp partitions Device Special File must be set and if the Bootcamp partition is mounted on the live invocation of Mac OS, it must be unmounted.
BOOTCAMP MOUNT MAC PARTITION WINDOWS 7 PRO
If you have a MacBook Pro from 2010 or earlier this would probably not be the cause to your problem. If I unmount windows 7 on bootcamp in my iMac. When Windows is up, you can assign a Drive letter to this shared folder for easy access. This solution does only count for MacBook Pro from 2011 and after. Therefore the only solution (in my case) is to use the Apple USB SuperDrive or with other words replace my internal drive with a new working internal drive from Apple.Īfter replacing my internal drive (through my insurance company) my problem was solved. The problem is that you have to use a certain DVD-drive - Apple USB SuperDrive - to install/boot Windows and since my MacBook Pro's internal DVD-drive does not work I have used an external DVD-drive which is much likely causing the problem.
